We're opening the today for @kaoskingston open studios. Been a bit of a whirlwind since everything that happened 6 months ago and having to move out of the old space in Hackney, but life moves on and here we are in a new space!

Another shot of our 1000+ flowers Origami Farawave flower from this week's event in Berlin with @Bostonsci

I love the way origami creates so much interesting texture when bulked together like this - I often talk about that in my online workshops actually too. Even as an experiment, pop a few folds in a sheet of paper and instantly you'll see a whole range of highlights and shadows.

If like to explore this more in my personal work too @michaeljtrew of you're interested in that.

In fact, with some sad events unfolding in my studio in East London this week, I'm going to be moving more down the line of personal work than large scale work like this for Boston - watch this space to see how things "unfold"

Still super committed to online workshops though as they're really enjoyable and getting great feedback too on them!

It's been so busy in the studio preparing these 1000+ origami flowers for a huge origami sculpture of the ground breaking Farapulse Pulsed Field Ablation System for an event here in Berlin with @bostonsci #nhaf2022

The thousands of petals represent those globally who have benefited from this revolutionary treatment for arrhythmia in the heart, all made by hand in our London studios (thanks to the team who got stuck in with me on this!)

Phyllotaxis 2.0
120x120cm paper on board

This piece is years in the making and finally made and showing at the @rheged_centre from tomorrow evening!!

The name Phyllotaxis means Seed Arrangement in Greek. I've used a simple algorithm to place points in 3d space digitally, then built pyramids on each point to create this physical representation of the beautiful sunflower seed head which its easy to ignore in daily life!

The spirals are mesmerising and complex as it uses the (most) irrational number, phi, in the construction.

I got some lovely comments about how entrancing it is in my studio so can't wait to see it at the gallery tomorrow night!

Excited to say I will be exhiting in my 3rd show in 2022 this Summer at the @Rheged_centre in Penrith! I'll be showing 2 pieces along side about 50 other contemporary paper artists, and on top of that, a selection of prints of Matisse's papercuts!

What an honour!

Matisse and Contemporary Paper Artists Rheged's summer exhibition includes Matisse: Drawing with Scissors, his late works 1950-1954, a Hayward Gallery Touring Exhibition, which features 35 lithographic prints of the famous cut-outs produced by Henri Matisse (1869-1954) in the last four years of his life.

The exhibition also features 200 artworks by 40 leading British Paper Artists including animation, origami, fashion, collage, 3d sculpture and paper cuts, many of which are for sale. The exhibition includes children's activities and a make and create area. There is also a programme of adult and family-friendly artist led workshops. (bookable in advance) Open daily 28 May - 04 September | 9am -5.30pm
