I began my journey with origami at the age of 6, and have found the ancient Japanese art, and indeed paper itself, to be a strangely reliable companion or 'through-line' throughout my life

Perhaps this is why 'Papershake Origami' feels such a fitting name for my world - a world you're welcome to explore!

I have been a maker all my life with an interest in origami and paper sculpture from the age of 6 when I joined the British Origami Society and regularly attended conferences across the UK.

My first commercial jobs at the age of 15 for clients such as BP, Mizuho Bank and American Express gave me the opportunity to explore a career as a professional Origami Artist.

What else makes me tick?

What else makes me tick?

I am passionate about combining origami techniques with other ways of working with paper, and I often use digital cutting, scoring and 3D design in my work to make things more time and cost-effective. I work regularly with Rhino/Grasshopper3D, Maya, and Blender along with Adobe Creative Suite.

I am also interested in combining user interaction and algorithmic/parametric design and exploring more recent technologies such as 3D printing, Laser cutting and Augmented Reality - watch this space!

I am very interested in exploring the crossover of maths and art, especially as shown in nature in Fibonacci sequences and other patterns which, while highly defined, have an undeniable organic beauty.

My fine art practice is often around geometric shapes, patterns, and algorithms, but I also often find myself asking what humanity can bring that the 'perfection' and 'accuracy' of an algorithm can miss.

I'm particularly excited when I get to incorporate these interests into my professional work.
